Chimney Rock Top – 100g Undyed

$ 11.25
Description Spin durability and beauty with Chimney Rock Top. This preparation combines 75% superwash Merino wool with 25% nylon, triple-blended for consistency and easy drafting. Superwash Merino offers next-to-skin softness and rich dye absorption. Nylon adds resilience, strength, and a subtle shine, making this blend especially well-suited for socks, mittens, and other high-wear projects. Each bundle contains 100g of top, smooth and ready for wheel or spindle. Choose it in its natural form ($12.50) or explore the vibrant hand-dyed versions by Joyous Fibers ($25), where the Merino and nylon play beautifully together for striking color contrasts. 75% Superwash Merino Merino Wool → Merino sheep produce some of the finest, softest wool available. Perfect for next-to-skin wear (scarves, socks, shawls). Superwash (SW) → The wool has been treated so it won’t felt and can be machine-washed on gentle cycles. Micron Range (not listed, but typical Merino = 19–23 microns) → Always fine and soft. Likely around the 21–22 range, making it comfy against the skin. 25% Nylon A synthetic fiber that adds strength, durability, and a subtle shine. Commonly used in commercial sock yarns for added wear resistance. Doesn’t dye as vibrantly as wool, but when blended, it creates eye-catching contrasts because it reflects light differently. ✨ Why it matters for spinners & dyers Spinners: Easy to draft (triple-blended prep). The nylon adds resilience and just a touch of slipperiness, but the Merino balances it with bounce. Great for high-wear items like socks, mittens, and accessories. Dyers: The Merino will take dye richly, while nylon often remains lighter or shimmery—resulting in subtle, glowing contrasts. Fantastic for hand-dyed colorways with depth. Whether you’re a new spinner looking for a forgiving fiber or an experienced maker wanting durability with flair, Chimney Rock Top is a reliable and inspiring choice.
